n. 1 a person who makes artistic designs or plans for construction, e.g. for clothing, machines, theatre sets; a draughtsman. 2 (attrib.) (of clothing etc.) bearing the name or label of a famous designer; prestigious. Phrases and idioms designer drug a synthetic analogue, not itself illegal, of an illegal drug.
